Congress may pass legislation that grounds my 3 DJI drones permanently and I have not even had a chance to fly them yet since I purchased them. I’ve kept them unopened in box in the event there is spyware, rumor hit the news shortly after I acquired them. Best case scenario if this new legislation is passed, my specific models are banned and DJI is forced to recall and refund them or if I am allowed to sell them to a collector for non-aerial display. One of the drones is equipped with a state-of-the-art Hasselblad camera. Just when I’m ramping up some projects to get back to my filmmaking. I get it, but damn, thousands of dollars wasted. China is really pushing it with all the spyware in their electronic products they sell us. If the spyware issue is real, the pushback needs to be harsher than Congress is suggesting and should extend to all their manufacturing of electronic devices exported to the U.S. and recalls/refunds put in place.
